Shar-e Movement Community— In commemoration of the 2025 National Santri Day, the Institute of Publication and Communication of Nahdlatul Ulama (LTN NU) Ponorogo, in collaboration with the SHAR-e Movement Community, organized the Digital Media Pesantren NU on Saturday (25/10/2025). The initiative was designed to strengthen journalistic skills and build ethical digital awareness among NU youth.
Held at the PC Muslimat Auditorium, the program brought together 23 participants representing MWC NU across Ponorogo Regency. The training covered news writing, opinion development, digital responsibility, and the creation of constructive narratives in public digital spaces.
Digital media and strengthening NU discourse

“Media digital bisa menjadi sarana dakwah dan penguatan wacana ke-NU-an” [Digital media can serve as a medium of da’wah and a platform to strengthen NU’s intellectual discourse.]
Chairman of LTN NU Ponorogo, Azmi Mustaqim, M.A., explained that the initiative emerged from a concern that many NU activities remain undocumented and underreported, despite the abundance of capable writers within NU.
“Di NU itu banyak orang pintar dan punya kemampuan menulis, tapi belum tersalurkan. Banyak kegiatan luar biasa yang tidak terpublikasikan karena kita hanya membagikan foto tanpa narasi. Padahal media digital bisa menjadi sarana dakwah dan penguatan wacana ke-NU-an,”
[“There are many bright people in NU with strong writing potential, yet their talent remains unused. Numerous remarkable NU activities go unreported because we only share photos without context. Digital media is actually a medium for da’wah and strengthening NU narratives.”]
The Changing Discourse Landscape

“Ruang wacana berpindah dari podium ke layer, dari gua ke gawai” [The arena of discourse has shifted from podiums to screens, from caves to devices.]
In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of PCNU Ponorogo, Dr. Iswahyudi, reflected on how communication and knowledge traditions have changed along with history.
“Dulu orang Yunani mewacanakan gagasan melalui retorika, pergi ke gua dan belajar menarasikan pikiran. Kini dunia telah berubah, ruang wacana berpindah dari podium ke layer, dari gua ke gawai,”
[The Greeks once cultivated ideas through rhetoric, retreating into caves to shape their thoughts. Today, the world has shifted — discourse has moved from podiums to screens, from caves to gadgets.]
He also reminded that digital spaces demand moral awareness:
“Di dunia maya sekalipun, kita tetap perlu menjaga akhlak, sopan santun, dan bijak dalam berpendapat. Di situlah karakter santri diuji,” [Even in the digital realm, we must uphold ethics, courtesy, and wisdom in expressing opinions. This is where the character of a santri is tested.]
Humanity Critically Affected by Technology

“Penghargaan terhadap manusia sedang terancam” [Human dignity is now at risk.]
Founder of SHAR-e Movement Community, Sholeh Hasan Wahid, M.H.I., emphasized that the digital era carries a subtle danger: losing our sense of humanity.
“Hari ini orang-orang berkumpul dengan kawan-kawannya tetapi tidak berinteraksi, masing-masing dari mereka sibuk dengan gawainya sendiri-sendiri. Di situ penghargaan terhadap manusia sedang terancam,” [People sit together today without truly interacting, each absorbed by their own screen. This is the moment when our respect for human presence is at risk.]
He stressed the importance of building an ethical and compassionate digital ecosystem instead of allowing technology to erode human connection.
